Mangaluru, Aug 31: As the Muslims in coastal Karnataka will celebrate Eid al-Adha or festival of sacrifice on Friday (September 1) the state government has announced general holiday in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on the same day.

The state government had earlier announced September 2 (Saturday) as Bakrid holiday. However, the order was modified declaring general holiday for DK and Udupi districts on Friday. For rest of Karnataka, the holiday will be on Saturday.

Schools, colleges and government offices will function as usual on Saturday, said DK district minister Ramanath Rai.
