Mangaluru, Oct 18: Police have arrested a youth on charges of kidnapping a woman and raping her, after the latter went missing from a working women's hostel in Suratkal and found in Sullia.

Mohandas works at a JCB company in Puttur. He allegedly befriended a woman from Belthangady through social networking site Facebook and lured her to Suratkal assuring her of marriage and studies.
Once in Suratkal, he got her admitted to a working women's hostel. From there, she is said to have gone missing few days ago. The hostel authorities gave a missing complaint to the Suratkal police.
When her phone was traced in the range of Subramanya tower, the police visited the spot and found her residing at a private women's hostel in Sullia.
The woman informed police that Mohandas took her around to several places. Based on this information, police arrested Mohandas.
Later, it was found that Mohandas was married and had two children. According to police, he is an accused in two previous cases including an attempt to murder case in 2013.
Sullia police have handed custody of the woman and accused to Suratkal police. The family of the woman has alleged that the accused was into human trafficking.
