Udupi, Jun 7: Suspected dengue fever has claimed two more lives in two separate villages of Karkala taluk in Udupi district.

The deaths would be confirmed after the arrival of the dengue audit report. There was high incidence of dengue in areas close to the Western Ghats.
There were about 100 suspected cases and about 30 confirmed cases of dengue in the district in May.
To tackle the problem, the larva survey and fever surveillance had been taken up in the areas from where such cases had been reported. Fogging had been taken up in Mala, Bajagoli, Hallihole and other villages.
“We have taken up awareness and education activities not only in these areas but also in areas which we suspect might be prone to dengue. We have distributed pamphlets on the steps to be taken to prevent the spread of dengue,” Dr. Rohini said.
