Mysuru, Sep 17: Property worth several lakhs of rupees belonging to corporator Suhel Baig was destroyed in a fire at his residence in Mysuru on Friday.
A fire that started from a refrigerator due to a short circuit engulfed the kitchen in the ground floor and destroyed the modular kitchen and items there.
Luckily, the fire didn't spread to other parts of the house or to the neighbours.
Soon after, five family members came out of the house on 23rd Cross, and called fire and emergency personnel and police. No one was injured, Mandi Mohalla police said.
Suhel, a corporator of Ward 43, lives in Mandi Mohalla with his wife and children. At the time of incident, his relatives too were at home. Police are yet to receive a complaint on the exact loss of property.
This is the third such incident in Mandi Mohalla in the past 45 days. All fires happen due to short circuits in refrigerators, police said.
