Mangaluru, Sep 18: Five youths accused of attempting to murder a murder accused under the limits of Ullal police station last week, have surrendered themselves before a court.
On September 10 they had rammed their Swift car into a scooter and then chopped the hands of its rider using machetes in an apparent murder attempt at Chembugudde near Thokkottu.
Passersby had admitted a critically injured Lancy D' Souza, who was in an unconscious condition to a hospital. He was an accused in Hindu Jagarana Vedike activist Yathish Poojary.
Police had launched a man-hunt to nab the accused in murder attempt case.
On Thursday five accused identified as Deekshith (27) from Thokkottu, Rathan (22) from Adyarupadavu, Sujan (25) from Mogaveerapatna, Vivek (26) from Someshwara, and Pavan (19) from Kapikad surrendered before a court. They have been remanded in judicial custody.
However, the main accused in the case Keshava alias Choni, Prashanth, and Rakshit are still absconding.
