Mangalore, Aug 27: After much effort, five persons have been arrested by Mangalore police in connection with celebrating' the demise of noted literary figure U R Ananthamurthy last week.

Police had been on the lookout of several accused ever since the miscreants, purported to be Hindutva activists, burst crackers and shouted slogans rejoicing the death of the famed Kannada writer last Friday, in Mangalore.
It is learnt that the accused Anil and Umesh are also among the accused who brutally assaulted three cattle transporters in Pumpwell on Saturday.
The duo have been produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
On Tuesday, Kadri police arrested the accused Manoj, Vijesh and Sharath in Mangalore. It is said that they have been granted bail in the case.
