Mangalore/Udupi, Jun 25: As many as five police personnel were injured in two separate attacks by miscreants in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. The injured including two female cops-Panambur sub-inspector of police Bharathi G and Kundapur Assistant Sub Inspector.

P.M. Diwakar, Circle Police Inspector said a case was registered against the accused under Sections 353, 354A, 504 and 323 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Kundapur police station in Udupi. A case was also registered against the duo under Sections 427, 324, 504 and 506 of IPC. The accused were produced before the court in Kundapur, which remanded them in judicial custody till July 7.
In a separate incident, SI Bharathi and three constables were injured while trying to nab an accused near Baikampady on the outskirts of Mangalore on Tuesday night.
It is learnt that the police team led by Bharathi was chasing one of the accused in an attempt to murder case in Moodbidri. Police gave the name of the accused as Salam.
Mangalore city police commissioner R Hitendra said that when the police team surrounded the accused, he brandished a knife at them. However the constables-Chandrahas, Radhakrishna and Sathish- managed to catch the accused. In the melee all three constables and the accused sustained severe injuries. SI Bharathi also sustained minor injuries. All of them were immediately taken to a hospital.
