
Mangalore, May 13: For the first time a lady has become the president of Catholic Sabha. Flavy D'Souza was elected president of the 35-year old Sabha at the 35th annual general meeting held recently at Bishops' House Mangalore. Nigel Pereira presided the meeting.
In the afternoon, the elections for the term of 2014-15 were held and for the first time in its history of 35 years, a lady was elected president.
Other elected office-bearers were Valarian D'Souza - president designate, Anil Lobo - vice-president, Victor Vas - secretary general , Walter Monis - joint secretary, and Julia Crasta - treasurer, Lancy Pinto - joint treasurer.
Fr J B Crasta, spiritual director, and past presidents Gerald D'Costa and L J Fernandes were present. The election process was conductd by Lancy D'Cunha, past president and NVP of All India Catholic Union.
