Mangaluru, Apr 11: In a shocking incident, the house of former Ullal MLA and Kannada poet Late B M Idinabba located at Mastikatte in Ullal on the outskirts of the city was burgled on Friday.
Idinabba’s son Badruddin resides in the house along with his family. The burglary came to light when the family members returned home on Friday night at around 10:30 p.m. after participating in a programme.
Family sources said that Rs 40,000 cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 8.5 lakh. The thieves gained entry into the house by breaking open the back door of the house.
Ullal police rushed to the spot and conducted inspection. Finger press experts were called in and sniffer dogs also were pressed into action.
This is the second major burglary under the limits of Ullal Police Station within a period of two weeks. Two weeks ago thieves had escaped with valuables worth several lakh rupees from a house at Kolya. Moreover several other minor burglary cases have been reported in and around Ullal.
Local residents have demanded the police to increase security across Ullal at least till the end of Urs at at Sayyid Madani Dargah. It can be mentioned here that Urs has been attracting people from across the state.
