Mangalore, May 16: Four boys met with a sad demise when they ventured into the sea and drowned in the water while at Koorikatta in Baikampady on the outskirts of the city on Friday.

The tragic incident occurred when a group of seven boys ventured into the sea on Friday afternoon to play in the water. The strong undercurrent of the waves pulled the four boys away from the sea shore, drowning them before the locals could rescue them.
The other three boys were unharmed. The bodies of the children who drowned were retrieved by the local fishermen soon after.
It was later learnt that the boys belonged to migrant families hailing from north Karnataka. All the four boys were studying in Baikampady government school.
