Mangaluru, Nov 20: Four persons were arrested after they barged into Belthangady police station and threatened a police officer with a revolver and abused other police personnel on Thursday.
The arrested have been identified as Dayanada (37), Ravi (40), Ranganath Bhat (46) from Hassan district and Basavaraj from Belagavi district.
According to the police, Dayanand and three other activists allegedly came in an inebriated state to the station around 7 p.m., to lodge a complaint against the vehicle that hit their car in Punjalkatte.
Dayanand and his associates allegedly abused the police constable standing as a sentry at the police station and then, allegedly entered the chamber of Sub-Inspector where Dayanand reportedly threatened the official with a loaded revolver.
Superintendent of Police Sharanappa S.D. said that they arrested Dayanand and three others for allegedly threatening policemen and violation of provisions of Indian Arms Act.
All the four were subjected to medical examination that revealed about consumption of alcohol.
