
Mangalore, Aug 4: Four persons were killed in four separate road accidents in Dakshina Kannada on Sunday.
Around 2.30 p.m., an advocate died in an accident after an autorickshaw rammed his motorcycle near a mosque at Karaya in Belthangady taluk.
I Sadashiva (36), a resident of Belthangady and a practising advocate at the Judicial Magistrate First Class Court there, was heading home after visiting Uppinangadi. The accident occurred after the autorickshaw veered into the wrong lane of the road and collided head on with him, said the Puttur traffic police.
Mr. Sadashiva suffered head injuries and died a few minutes later in the hospital. The police, who have filed a hit-and-run case, said the autorickshaw driver fled the scene and was yet to be identified. However, eye-witnesses have noted down the number of the autorickshaw.
A 21-year-old motorist was killed and the pillion rider was injured when a motorcycle hit a mile stone before hitting an electricity pole in Yelinje near Mulky on Sunday.
According to Mangalore Traffic North police, Mahantesh (21) was riding the motorcycle and Basavaraj was in pillion. They were among a group of six persons returning after visiting a temple in Kodyadka. The police said Mahantesh lost control over the vehicle and hit a mile stone followed by an electricity pole. The two fell off the vehicle. Mahantesh died on the spot. Basavaraj has been admitted to a private hospital, the police said.
Chandroji Rao, 48, and his son, Jithendran, 22, were killed their bike rammed a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus at Panchikkal, close to the Kerala-Karnataka border in Adoor police station limits. The bus was headed to Subrahmanya.
