Pointing that Apex Court itself has stated in its interim order that Aadhar Card is not compulsory, the Gas companies by insisting for Aadhar Card number are amounting to contempt of Court, the Vedike has demanded legal action against three Gas companies.
The Vedike held a meeting recently where it said that all the three gas companies must be issued notice in this regard at the earliest.
The Vedike members said that the Ministry for Oil and Natural Gas is trying to establish its supremacy over Supreme Court, which is a tragedy. The actual status of Aadhar Card will be known only when the final order will be given by the Apex Court.
The Vedike has hence requested the Gas Companies not to send messages to customers demanding Aadhar Card number till the final verdict of the Court is out.
"The government should take steps to stop charging additional VAT on the customers, failing which the implications will be seen during the Lok Sabha polls," said Vedike President Dharmendra K.
Demanding status quo till the Surpeme Court verdict is out, the Vedike has decided to take up legal battle if need arises, said a release from Vedike office-bear Muhammad Muhsin.
