Mangaluru, Dec 21: St Christopher Association, Mangaluru observed Christmas celebrations with the students at D K Government Higher Primary School at Padavu Bikarnakatte here on Saturday.
As part of the celebrations, the organisers cut a Christmas cake and distributed it among the children present.
On the occasion, Kannada journalist and president of Mangaluru Press Club Ramakrishna R said that the real celebration of Christmas was when we gave back to the society a part of what we earned.
Studying in schools which taught subjects in Kannada medium was considered to be poor, but this notion is false as money is not wealth. Real wealth is having a kind and generous attitude which understands others' pain and hardships and responds to them accordingly, he said.
In his presidential address, president of St Christopher Association Raymond D'Cunha said that it was the apathy people had towards Kannada medium schools that stopped them from rendering service to these schools, in spite of having studied in the same schools. Students taught in Kannada medium schools are the future of the nation, he said.
Principal of the school Rajivi, vice president of the association Francis D'Souza, association members and staff of the school participated in the celebrations.
