Mangaluru, Apr 6: Officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport at Kenjar here on Monday seized gold in the form of two cylindrical rod shaped objects totally weighing 583.300 grams of value Rs15,71,944 brought by a passenger who arrived from Dubai.
The passenger Sabir Berka, 19, had brought these gold rods by concealing them in his rectum. Sabir Berka, arrived at Mangalore International Airport at 8.25am by Jet Airways Flight 9W531 from Dubai. He is a resident of Kasargod, Kerala.
The passenger has been arrested and produced before the chief Judicial Magistrate, Mangaluru, for remand. Further investigation is under progress, N Udayashankaran, assistant commissioner of customs (airport) stated.
