Mangaluru, Sep 17: UT Khader, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, who is known for helping accident victims amidst his busy schedule, once again exhibited his humanity by shifting an injured man and woman to hospital when there was no one to help them.
50-year-old James and his 45-year-old wife Suzan, residents of Asaigoli in Mangaluru taluk on Thursday met with an accident when they were returning home from Thokkottu.
The couple was thrown off the scooter and suffered severe injuries after the rider lost control over his two-wheeler near Deralakatte. Even though they were helplessly lying for a few minutes on the road, no one came forward to help them.
Thankfully, Mr Khader, who was moving towards Mangaluru after participating in a programme in Naringana village, noticed the injured couple. Immediately he asked his driver to stop the car.
With the help of Congress party workers, Mr Khader shifted both the injured to a private hospital in Deralakatte and also paid their treatment expense from his pocket before leaving the hospital.
James told Coastaldigest.com that he lost control over his scooter while returning to Asaigoli from Thokkottu. “We both were thrown onto the road. We were injured. When I regained my conscious we both were on hospital beds,” he said.
He said that he came to known that the minister brought him and his wife to the hospital and paid the fee only after hospital authorities told him. “We are grateful to our minister,” he said.
