Hassan, Dec 5: Two female passengers died on the spot and around 10 people suffered injuries in a head-on collision between a KSRTC Volvo and a private bus near Heddurga village in Alur taluk early morning on Tuesday.
The victims have been identified as Fathima Sameera (28) from Chengala near Kasargod, who was travelling in the KSRTC bus and Yashodha (44) travelling in the private bus.
The KSRTC bus (KA 19 F 2980) was plying towards Bengaluru from Udupi. The private bus belonging to Durgamba travels, was heading to Mangaluru from Bengaluru.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. Rash and negligent driving by the private bus driver is said to be the reason for the accident.
Victim Fathima’s father Abdul Salam (57) is also among the injured. Some of the other injured have been identified as Vidya (50) from Mangaluru, Ravikumar (33) from Puttur, Sathish Kamath (60) from Mangaluru, Naveen Prakash (35) from Bommabetta, Shanan (21) from Mangaluru and Narayana (40) from Malleshwaram.
The injured have been admitted to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences. A case has been registered at jurisdictional Alur police station.
