
Mangalore, Aug 26: Hundreds of Haj pilgrims, who are expected to leave for the holy city of Makkah from Mangalore on August 27, are doing last minute preparation.
The registration for Haj-2014 started at a camp at a camp at Old Terminal near Kenjaru, Bajpe here on Monday.
The process of registration launched with K Umarabba of Kemjuru in Kannur getting his name registered for pilgrimage.
Dozens of volunteers were assisting the pilgrims in registration process.
Hajj operation from Mangalore is scheduled to commence from August 27 and Haj departures go up to September 1.
Close to 850 pilgrims will leave from Mangalore airport in six flights, officials said.
The first flight carrying Haj pilgrims will be flagged off by Minister Roshan Baig on Wednesday.
Adequate arrangements and facilities have been made for the convenience of passengers bound for Hajj from Mangalore airport. A health camp had been organised for the Hajj pilgrims, in which they were given vaccination and health cards.
The flight will be flagged off the minister in the presence of other elected representatives at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
The camp was inaugurated with a prayer by Haji Abdurrazak Madani, Khatheeb of Bajpe Juma Masjid.
Mangalore Hajj Management Committee President Yenepoya Muhammad Kunhi, Haneef Haji Bunder, CMahmood Haji, C Muhammad Haji, Rafeeq Haji Puttur, Bajpe Muhammad Haneef, Padil Ahmed Bawa, Haji Basheer Ahmed, Azeez Baikampady, Riyazuddeen Haji, V Muhammad, office-bearers of State Hajj Committee Basha Muhammad and others were present on the occasion.
