Bengaluru, Jul 28: The differences of opinion between JD(S) MLA from Gangavathi, Iqbal Ansari, and his party president H D Kumaraswamy has reached a boiling point, with the former facing expulsion.
Ansari had slammed the JD(S) padayatra in North Karnataka as a gimmick by Kumaraswamy at a press meet last month following which the party served him with a notice.
In a three-page letter, Ansari has stated that Kumaraswamy had neglected him and the Muslim community during and after his tenure as the chief minister. The minority community would always begrudge him for this, he has added.
Despite his many requests to allot him a better portfolio, Kumaraswamy had ignored him. In turn, he indulged several BJP and Congress leaders for political gain, he has said. He has claimed that the 212 seats won by the JD(S) in the recently concluded Gram Panchayat polls in Gangavathi taluk, were due to his efforts. The party’s attitude had forced him to reach out to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for funds for his constituency. Ansari and Kumaraswamy, who had a fallout during the 2013 Assembly elections, have been continuously issuing statements against each other.
