Bengaluru, Dec 30: A day after the Church Street blast, a Twitter handle ” @LatestAbdul ” went berserk claiming responsibility for the blast, warning of more blasts in the next two days and even challenged Bengaluru Police to try and catch him. By evening, the city police arrested him.

After arresting him, the city police said that he was a œpsychologically-stressed 17-year-old Hindu. Police Commissioner M N Reddi brushed off the youth's claim that he had set off the bomb. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abhishek Goyal said the incident reinforces the point that social media should be used responsibly.
There were rumours of blasts through the day in parts of the city, but the police were quick to deny the reports and ask the public not to pay any heed to rumours.
In a timeline filled with abuses directed at a wide range of people, including Reddi, Goyal,

On December 22, œAbdul had tweeted to Commissioner Reddi, œLet's start the game, Karnataka Police cannot catch us. He had added that he would kill at least a thousand people. He had also tweeted to known ISIS members seeking funds, promising to œblast all of India if needed.
The series of tweets in this connection also saw supporters for police asking the person behind it to not underestimate our cops.
Additional commissioner (law and order) Alok Kumar tweeted: "Situation in Bangalore City is peaceful. Some elements spreading rumours. Don't pay heed to rumours, in case of anything suspicious call 100." Even Twitter acted quickly and suspended @LatestAbdu's account on the site.
