Mangaluru, Jan 5: In days where instances of communal disharmony and clashes triggered by communal extremists with a narrow mindset is consistently over-shadowing examples of tolerance and brotherhood among different communities, it is necessary to highlight how people belonging to two different communities are promoting Hindu-Muslim harmony.

In one such rare instance of communal harmony, a group of youth belonging to the Hindu community in Bakrebail village proved that peace-loving people promoting unity and brotherhood are still rooted in the society.
A group of youth calling themselves Friends Bakrebail began distributing sweets and refreshments to hundreds of Muslims participating in a procession rally on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi at the main junction in Bakrebail near Salethoor near the Kerala border in Dakshina Kannada.
Every year, 4-5 masjids and madrasas around Salethoor in the Karnataka-Kerala border area jointly organise and undertake a procession rally during Milad-un-Nabi and convene at Bakrebail.
During the Milad celebrations this year, the youth under the banner of Friends Bakrebail distributed refreshments to the people gathered for the celebrations and showed their large-heartedness. This gesture also goes a long way towards promoting brotherhood among people from the different communities.
