Hindu youth killed by ‘Muslim goons’; cops tried to cover up: Karandlaje

Bengaluru, Dec 9: BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje on Saturday demanded a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the death of Paresh Mesta, whose body was found in a lake in Honnavar on Friday.

"Mesta was brutally killed by some ‘Muslim goons’, who had tacit support of the police. The killing was covered up because Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was touring the Uttara Kannada district," Karandlaje charged, at a press conference.

"As many as 20 Hindu activists have been killed, so far. Siddaramaiah says he's also a Hindu. How many more Hindu lives must be lost? The CM should answer this," the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP demanded.

Honnavar has been tense following violence earlier this week. Tempers soared further after the body of Mesta, who went missing on the night of December 6 from the local Lord Shani temple, was found floating in a nearby lake.

According to Karandlaje, Mesta was at the temple that was under attack. "Stones and slippers were hurled at the temple despite prohibitory orders in place," she said, pointing to footages that show uniformed police personnel standing with a weapon-wielding mob.

"One of the accused, Azad Annigeri, has links to the ISIS. The Paresh Mesta case has to be probed by the NIA," Karandlaje said.

The former minister accused the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government of weakening the police "through people like Kempaiah (home minister's advisor)."

She said the government was "least concerned" to strengthen the State Human Rights Commission where 80,000 cases were pending, according to her.

Siddaramaiah, you need to be impartial. You banned Hindu celebrations to make way for  Muslim procession.
When some left winger died accused right wingers and went overboard with investigations though nothing could be found.
When a right winger is killed, you seem to be gleefully keeping quiet

Bengaluru, Oct 13: After the Central Crime Branch named Congress leader Sampath Raj as one of the main accused in Bengaluru violence that erupted on August 11, MLA A Srinivasamurthy requested leaders to expel him from the party.

Speaking to news agency, Srinivasamurthy said, "Probe is going in the right direction. The culprit must be punished. I request party leaders to expel him from the party."

He said there is no benefit in creating violence; he could have talked to party leaders if he had any issue.

"Today I am living in another house, not in my constituency. What is the benefit of committing violence? What profit is there in keeping rivalry? He could have talked to leaders like DK Shivakumar if he had issues," Srinivasamurthy told news agency.

"I was trying to work for the constituency together and he was like a brother but I did not know that's what he was planning," he added.

August 11, there was an incident of violence in Bengaluru where police stations were attacked.

NIA investigation into it resulted in the arrest of a few key conspirators. It has come to light that the protest was not spontaneous but a conspiracy.

NIA had arrested a key conspirator, Sayed Saddiq Ali, for his involvement in the attack on KG Halli Police Station in Bengaluru that took place in the late evening of August 11, 2020.

The attack resulted in damage to public and government property, including damage to the police station building and vehicles parked in the police station premises and nearby areas.

Udupi, Oct 26: A woman who consumed a sliced papaya without knowing that it was laced with rat poison lost her life on October 24 at Kudi village in Udupi taluk.

The victim has been identified as Shreemathi (43), wife of Vaman Naik.

Vaman Naik runs a cashew factory behind his residence at Devaragunda in Kudui.

The cashew factory is infested with rats. To control the menace of rodents, the family used to keep papaya pieces laced with rat poison at different places.

On October 19, as usual, papaya fruit pieces mixed with rat poison had been kept in the house. Shreemathi, by oversight, consumed the poisoned papaya pieces at around 1.30 pm on October 19.

On October 20, she complained of extreme pain in the stomach. Her daughter Vidyashree (18) who came home at 8 pm that day, took her mother along with father to a private hospital and got her admitted there.

Without responding to treatment, Shreemathi breathed her last on October 24. On the basis of a report filed by Vidyashree, Hiriadka police have registered a case of unnatural death and undertaken probe.

Udupi, Oct 19: The Udupi district police have filed a charge-sheet against two siblings from Moodbidri accusing them of hacking the social media account of NRI Harish Bangera and posting provocative posts from it.

Harish Bangera, 33, from Beejadi in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district was jailed in Saudi Arabia since December 2019 for insulting religious sentiments and abusing the Saudi royal family through Facebook. Harish was an AC mechanic working in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Before his arrest by Saudi police, Harish Bangera had confessed to his crime and posted a video on social media apologising for his act. He also had promised that he would never commit the same mistake again. The confession and apology video is still available on social media platforms.

However, Harish’s wife Suman had claimed that her husband is innocent, and that the posts on Facebook were uploaded by others hacking his account. She had suspected foul play in her husband’s arrest in Saudi.

Based on her complaint, the Udupi police had arrested Abdul Uais and Abdul Tuves, siblings from Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada district.

Udupi superintendent of police N Vishnuvardhana said that they recently filed a charge-sheet in connection with the arrests made. Meanwhile, they have also submitted a report to the ministry of external affairs in this regard.
