Bantwal, Mar 19: Activists of various right-wing organisations laid siege to the Bantwal Town Police Station for over two hours on Tuesday urging to withdraw the FIR against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat.
They raised slogans against the police for booking Bhat who delivered hate speech against a particular community during Hindu Sangama programme held at B C Road on March 2. One Aboobaker Siddeeque had filed complaint against Mr Bhat.
Addressing the protestors, Hindu leader Jagadish Shenava said that police have booked innocent Hindus instead of initiating action against those who instigated unrest in the region.
“Police have not yet arrested ZP member Chandraprakash Shetty, Congress Yuva Morcha president Prashanth Kulal and ten others. Now, they filed an FIR against Dr Bhat on baseless charges. The complainant had an ulterior motive of tarnishing the image of Dr Bhat,” he said.
Jithendra Kottary, Dr Kamala P Bhat, Asha Prasad, K Padmanabha Kottary, A Rukamayya Poojary, Srikar Prabhu, BJP district president Pratap Simha Nayak, Rajesh Naik and others took part in the protest.
