Kundapur, Sep 8: Demanding the suspension of Kundapur police station inspector Nasir Hussain for alleged assaults on Hindutva activists, the local unit of Hindu Jagarana Vedike staged a demonstration near Shastri Circle here on Sunday.
The demonstrators alleged that the inspector physically assaulted innocent Hindu youth, including minors, on baseless charges and demanded that he should be suspended from duty.
Addressing the protestors, HJV district convenor Sathyajit Suratkal lashed against the unruly behaviour of the inspector who resorted to using lathi on innocent Hindutva activists unnecessarily without any reason.
Police personnel should not use their uniform to abuse their power where innocent persons are concerned. Nasir Hussain assaulted the innocent youth and booked them under various charges. The Hindu community will not tolerate such atrocities by police officers, he said, warning of intense measures in the coming days.
He warned of taking matters in their own hands if the assaults by the inspector continued to occur.
HJV members Prashant Kamath, Ashok Kageri and others participated in the demonstration.
