Mangalore, May 24: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A.B on Friday inspected the existing flyovers at Bikarnakatte and B.C. Road and discussed with authorities.
Mr Ibrahim expressed unhappy over traffic snarls on national highways at key junctions in the district.
The Bikarnakatte flyover marks the convergence of National Highway 75 (Bangalore-Mangalore) NH 169 (Mangalore-Sholapur). On the other hand B.C. Road flyover connects the town with Mangalore city.
The DC asked National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) authorities to make modifications to these flyovers to avoid traffic snarls.
Mr Ibrahim observed that the existing one-lane service road was not enough to handle the large traffic that head from the city towards Moodbidri.
A release said the officials were directed to either widen the existing service lane or construct another span from the flyover on to NH 169 for smoother traffic movement.
The DC also ordered NHAI officials to make arrangements for two-way traffic on the flyover at B C Road.
