Belagavi, Jul 12: A proposal to send the pre-university (PU) second year results directly to students’ e-mail is being actively considered by the government in an attempt to prevent errors in announcement.

Photocopies too will be sent directly to students who apply for them, said Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Ratnakar in response to a query by Tara (BJP), who tabled it on behalf of her colleague Ganesh Karnik in the Legislative Council on Friday.
It has already been decided to announce PU results only on the department’s official websites. Teams of officials will be sent to other states to study the CBSE examination and evaluation system to understand the best practices, he said.
Ratnakar said the cause for the confusion with PU results this year, was the many applications received for revaluation and photocopies of answer sheets. Using technology and training lecturers is also under consideration. Secrecy is also being maintained in preparing question papers, he said.
Excess staff at varsities
Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande said a committee will be formed to check whether universities in the State have appointed excess number of teaching and non-teaching staff on temporary and contract basis.
Answering a question raised by Go Madhusudhan (BJP), Deshpande said suitable action will be taken if universities are found to have employed more staff than the number of sanctioned posts. A facilitation centre will also be opened, where universities have to submit details of appointments.
This will bring transparency to the system, the minister said. Madhusudhan said there were irregularities in the appointment of temporary and contract staff in universities, and their pay-scale is also low.
