Newborn baby boy dies of jaundice

Kasaragod, Apr 19: A newborn boy died owing to a suspected case of jaundice near Manjeswaram on Monday.

The newborn son of Vasantha and Renuka, who are from Durgipallam, was born barely five days ago at a hospital in Mangaluru.

He was admitted to a private hospital at Uppala after he showed marked uneasiness on Monday.

The newborn baby, however, died later in the day at the hospital.

Cause of death

The doctor in the hospital attributed the death to suspected jaundice.

The worried parents of the newborn later lodged a complaint with the Manjeswaram police station.

The newborn baby’s body was shifted to the General Hospital here for autopsy.

The exact cause of the death of the newborn baby could be confirmed only after receiving the mecial autopsy report, sub-inspector E. Anoop said on Tuesday.
