Mangaluru, Jan 27: A bus conductor, who was convicted of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old boy nearly one-and-a-half year ago near Surathkal on the outskirts of the city, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court.
The judge Uma M.G gave life imprisonment to Tejaksha (29), who was found guilty of sexually assaulting the boy on September 30, 2013 at Palkilachilu in Suratkal police station limits.
According to the charge-sheet filed by the Suratkal police, Tejaksha had threatened the boy while he was walking towards his house after getting down at a bus-stop. He then took the boy to an isolated place and forced the boy to have sex with him.
He has apparently then threatened to kill the boy if he reported the incident to anyone. The boy narrated the incident to his mother, who filed a police complaint. The Suratkal police arrested Tejaksha and filed the chargesheet in November 2013.
The judge last Thursday had convicted Tejaksha under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 377 (unnatural offences) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Tejaksha was also convicted under Sections 4 and 8 of the POCSO Act.
