Fresh Development: Cops invoke non-bailable section against Prasad Attavar; court grants him bail
The development comes three days after Bhuvit Shetty, a Bajrang Dal activist from Bantwal was arrested for justifying the killing of former vice chancellor of Hampi University and warned that next tart would be another rationalist thinker Prof. K S Bhagawan. Shetty was released on bail within hours after his arrest.
Highly placed sources said that the police have realised the involvement of extremist Hindutva forces in the killing of Kalburgi, who had openly criticised idol worship and other blind beliefs in Hindu society.
It is learnt that the sleuths of CCB took Mr Attavar into custody and later handed over to Mangaluru North Police for interrogation. However, the police have remained tight-lipped over the possible involvement of Ram Sene leader in the killing.
One of the main accused in 2009 Mangaluru pub attack case, Attavar was known as a violent leader of Bajrang Dal and Sri Rama Sene. In 2013 he formed his own Rama Sene and continued his activities in the region.
