Moodbidri, Oct 13: Four days after flower merchant and Bajrang Dal member Prashanth Poojary was killed by miscreants, Mangaluru CCB police have made no headway in the murder case.
However, it is learnt that the police investigation has quickened and the police have picked up few local youth in Moodbidri on suspicion for questioning.
As per the directions of Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S Murugan, four police teams from different divisions are working on the murder case. Based on their suspicion, the police teams have taken a few youth into custody for interrogation.
Although no accused persons have been identified in the case so far, the police have quickened their investigation.
Apart from this, the police have registered cases against 100 youth in connection with destruction of private property including shops and a builder's office, in the aftermath of the murder.
From the past four days, police personnel from Moodbidri station and rest of the district made security arrangements in Moodbidri town to keep the law and order situation under control.
On Monday, around 100 police personnel and four police battalions were posted in the town as part of security arrangements. No untoward incidents occurred on Monday and there was a peaceful environment in Moodbidri.
