Bengaluru, Jun 25: Professor Maheshchandra Guru of the Journalism and Mass Communication department, who was in judicial custody since June 17 in connection with two different cases finally got bail on Friday.
His June 17 arrest was based on a complaint filed by a person named Ravishankar with Jayalakshmipuram police. The complaint said that Guru had used objectionable words against Lord Rama, which hurt the sentiments of a section of society, during a lecture at the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre under the University of Mysore. The Fourth JMFC court remanded him in judicial custody on June 17. His bail application which came up for hearing on June 20, was adjourned to June 22.
