While India’s Test form has been nothing short of abject on their travels, world champions India continue to be formidable in ODIs, Dhoni’s ODI tenure started badly by losing a seven match home series against Australia 3-4 but went from strength to strength since. With a side filled with rank newcomers, Dhoni pulled off an unlikelu win in the tri-series in Australia in early 2008. India kicked on from there and the subcontinent became the team’s den.
Dhoni and Indian cricket’s highest point, was clinching the ICC World Cup 2011 on home soil, which Dhoni led from the front in the final with a calm, calculated knock of 91. Since then, the ODI form has fluctuated back and forth. Recently, the team fought gallantly to win the prestgious ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 and will get to defend their World Cup crown in Australasia, come February-March 2013.
