Mangalore, Apr 16: Hours after Dakshina Kannada MP and BJP candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel's call-gate was exposed, a senior television journalist of a Kannada news channel allegedly received life-threat for reporting the issue.
Condemning the threat calls Dakshina Kananda District Working Journalists' Union has submitted a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim and urged action against the miscreants who are targeting journalists.
A delegation of the union, which called on Mr Ibrahim in his office on Wednesday evening, also urged him to provide necessary security for journalists, who are facing threats from anti-social elements.
Sukesh Kumar, the Mangalore Bureau reporter of Suvarna News 24/7, has complained to the police that he was being threatened and defamed on social media after he reported Mr Kateel's call-gate based on details provided by independent candidate Sudatta Jain. Mr Kumar also said that he received several threat calls for the same reason.
