Belagavi: Oct 31: As part of the ongoing investigation into scholar M M Kalburgi’s murder case, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has sent pictures of a youth found shot dead in Manikwadi in Khanapur taluk to all the police stations across the State and the neighbouring Goa and Maharashtra for identification.
The CID also stated that the man resembled one of the sketches of suspects in the murder of Kalburgi in Dharwad.
Investigations into the murder of the rationalist have till now been pointing towards a particular organisation, but the identity of the killers is unknown. The CID?has been pursuing leads based on the images obtained from CCTV in Dharwad. Kalburgi was killed on August 30 at his residence in Dharwad by two unidentified men.
The Maharashtra Special Investigation Team, investigating the murders of Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare, also visited Manikwadi and collected details about the man who was found shot dead. They too are making efforts to identify the body.
Meanwhile, Hemanth Nimbalkar, DIG, CID, said that the local police will have to establish the identity of the deceased, before proceeding further in the case.
“Before arriving at any conclusion, it is important to ascertain the identity deceased person. The Belagavi district police are on the this job.
The body reportedly bears bullet injuries and the cause of his death has also to be established” Nimbalkar explained.
