Bengaluru, No 29: In a tragic incident, a seven-year-old girl set herself on fire after watching a Kannada TV serial. The child died due to severe burn injuries.
According to police, the incident took place on November 11 at Harihara town in Davanagere district and came to light only on Wednesday. The child was from a poor family.
She was watching the show “Nandindi,” in which a character set herself on fire and struggled to douse it. The seven-year-old girl, Prarthana, did the same, police said. She was studying in second grade at a local St. Mary’s Convent.
The police don’t know if the child was troubled over something or set herself on fire thinking that it was fun.
