Bengaluru, May 26: With the triumphant Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders demanding the resignation of the JD(S)-Congress coalition government, which had received a severe drubbing in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the Rebel Congress MLA, Ramesh Jarakiholi was reportedly taken responsibility to bring down the one-year-old JD(S) led Coalition government and camping in Goa resorts.

According to sources close to the Congress rebel group, Ramesh Jarakiholi, who is spearheading the dissidents in the Congress party was reportedly in contact with about half a dozen disgruntled Congress MLAs, who are likely to join him at the Goa resorts in a day or two.

Sensing trouble to the stability to the coalition government, the Congress and the JD(S) leaders are also working out counter strategy to defeat the designs of the Opposition BJP and maintaining a close vigil on their MLAs, to keep the flock together.

God will help you only if you put all your efforts: Siddaramaiah on Sriramulu's comment

News Network
July 16,2020

Bengaluru, Jul 16: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday hit out at state Health Minister B Sriramulu for stating that "only God can save Karnataka" from COVID-19 and asked him to resign from his post.

Speaking to media here in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah said, "The government cannot say that we are helpless. Why is the government in power? You have power and you have money. It is your primary duty to serve the citizens of the state."

On being asked about Karnataka Health Minister's statement, the Congress leader said: "Let him resign and go out. God will help you only if you will put all your efforts."

Meanwhile, President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee DK Shivakumar tweeted "Karnataka's Health Minister saying 'Only God can save Karnataka' reflects poorly on @BSYBJP govt's ability to handle the Covid crisis. Why do we need such a government if they cannot tackle the pandemic?"

Sriramulu had said on Wednesday that either people should inculcate awareness or only God can save them from COVID-19.

"Who can save us at this time? It's either God or people should inculcate awareness in them. Congress leaders are involved in political mudslinging at this time. This is not fine and it will not help them in any way," the Minister had said.

"It is a crucial time, in the interest of the general public. I request all the Congress leaders not to indulge in loose talk regarding the issue, it leads to more panic situation among the general public. We are ready to adhere to any punishment if we did any wrong thing," he had added.

Chikkamagaluru, Agu 14: A day after a Muslim religious banner was discovered atop a gopura housing sage Shankaracharya’s statue Sringeri town in the district, the police have managed to nab the accused with the help of CCTV footages.

The accused has been identified as Milind son of Manohar, who is a supporter of Hindutva groups. However, the police clarified that he was not a member of any organisation.

On August 13, a tense atmosphere had prevailed in Sringeri after saffron activists gathered in large number in the town and claimed that SDPI activists desecrated the statue of Shankaracharya. They also claimed that the banner was the flag of SDPI.

Today, speaking to media persons, Chikkamagaluru police chief Hakay Akshay Machhindra rubbished the allegations of saffron activists as baseless.

“A drunker, identified as Milind son of Manohar, had picked an old banner from near the Jamia mosque in the town to sleep on the roadside on August 12th night. Later he threw the banner atop the statue of Shankaracharya and went somewhere else to sleep,” said the top cop, adding that the act was caught on CCTV camera.
