Bengaluru: Fed up with her mother-in-law controlling the family's finances, a kindergarten teacher allegedly killed the woman in a fit of rage. Then, she went to school as usual.
On the day of the murder, Nazeera's husband Imran Saab, who runs a cab, who runs a chicken stall, went out to drop their son to school. She told Imran she would leave for school in a while and stepped out of the house, but went back home.
A heated argument ensued between Nazeera and Badrunissa. In the melee, she stabbed her with a knife. Keeping her nerve, she took gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh and hid them under the bed to make it look like a robbery , and walked out of the house before her husband returned. Imran came home and found Badrunissa with her throat slit, lying in a pool of blood. When Imran called to in form her about the tragedy, she rushed home, and appeared shocked at the tragedy .The preliminary investigation showed gold ornaments missing from the house, leading police to suspect murder for gain.
Whenever police visited the house for investigation, Nazeera house for investigation, Nazeera repeatedly spoke about the stolen jewellery . That was the first clue for the cops. The second: scratch marks on Nazeera's fingers and neck, left by Badrunissa during their struggle. When questioned, her facade cracked.
"She showed unusual interest in the probe and the injuries on her body made us suspicious. So we detained her for questioning, and she confessed," police said. Nazeera was remanded in judicial custody.
Nazeera told police she was upset that she and her husband had to hand over their salaries to Badrunissa every month, and she had to ask for money , even for her daily expenses. Money was a constant source of tension between them, police said.
