Kundapur, Dec 24: In a rare kind of theft case, a bank customer was robbed of cash worth Rs 3 lakh in a bank within seconds when his attention was diverted away from the cash counter by a stranger.

It is said that businessman Ravi had brought Rs 3.80 lakh in cash to the bank in order to transfer money for the purchase of petrol/diesel for the petrol bunk. For this reason, he had placed Rs 3 lakh in cash on the cash counter.
As soon as his attention was diverted towards the floor, the stranger made off with the money that was kept on the cash counter.
When he found his money missing, Ravi immediately notified the bank manager and the security guard. However, by this time, the robber had vanished from the scene.
Having been informed of the theft, police sub-inspector Naseer Hussain and team arrived at the bank and wanted to look at the footage from the CCTV camera installed. There it came to light that the camera was not functioning and had not stored any footage since a week.
The bank manager was also on leave when the theft occurred.
Following this, the security guard informed the police team that a person wearing a green t-shirt had been sitting for a long time inside the bank and disappeared after the theft occurred. Hence, the police have considered this person as a suspect in the theft.
