Kundapur, Nov 5: Udupi district level poets’ meet and Puttanna Kulal youth poet award function was organised at Rotary Laxmi Narasima Kalamandira in Kundapur on Wednesday by All India Radio, Mangaluru along with Kundaprabha Trust, Puttanna Kulal Pratistan, and Govt. P.U. College of Kundapur.

Welcoming all the guest, poets, the host U. S. Shenoy briefed on the objectives of progressive thinking youth writers in Kannada and the need to take poetry to each people. He also mentioned the sole intention of the seminar in Kannada literature and its development.
Kannada Language is a rich language among south Dravidian languages said Ambatanaya Mudradi, writer, in his inaugural address. Poems should come from one’s heart, he said.
In the poetry session, as many as ten youth poets recited their poems on a variety of subjects including social issues, poverty, love and suffering.
Mogeri Shekhar Devadig, Altharu Nagaraj, Keerthana Shetti, Adithya Prasad, Geetha Hegde, Dreema D’souza, Rakshith, Anand F. Doddakurubar, Suvratha Adiga and Vidhyavathi Shetti participated in the session.
On the occasion, ‘Puttanna Kulal Yuva Kavi’ award was presented to Altharu Nagaraj.
Dr. Annayya Kulal, President of Puttanna Kulal Pratistana, called upon the young writers to continue writing. Subramanya G. Joshi, Principal of Govt. P.U. College and Dr. Bhavani R. Rao, President, IMA of Kundapur were chief guests.
K. Shivananda Karanth delivered introductory remarks. Vishwanath Kadaba compered. U.S. Shenoy proposed vote of thanks.
