Mangaluru, May 31: An amateur trekker lost his life in his bid to capture the beauty of nature during lighting atop Karadi Hills near the border between Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts.

The incident took place when a group of 12 enthusiasts including six women were on a trek on Saturday. 29-year-old Harish was one among them.
According to Subramanya police, Harish and 11 other trekkers arrived at Subramanya on Friday. The very next day, they started their trekking from Agolikaje.
As the group reached Karadi Hills in the evening it started raining lightly, coupled with lightning. Harish took out his mobile phone to capture the photograph of lightning but unfortunately lightning captured him.
The police said it was then that Harish was struck by lightning and he collapsed. Two of his friends also suffered burns. The group then brought Harish down to a shed of forest department in Somavarpet where he reportedly died.
His friends then took the body to a nearby government hospital on Sunday morning where Harish was declared dead. The police said they registered the case and then transferred it to Somavarapet police station.
