Karlburgi, Nov 3: The Karnataka unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has condemned Pejawar Mutt chief Vishvesha Thirtha Swami for his provocative statements amid BJP sponsored beef controversy in the state.
State Secretary of the CPI (M) G.V. Srirama Reddy and State Secretariat member G.V.K. Naik told presspersons here that the statement made by the Pejawar seer did not bode well with the position he held in society.
Mr. Reddy said that there was no need for the seer to compare the throwing of a slaughtered pig on the premises of a Muslim religious centre to eating beef. “How can a real Swamiji speak in such a cheap manner?” he questioned.
“This would only provoke militant elements to create communal tensions, he said. He added that nobody has the right to regulate eating habits of people.
