Mangaluru, Apr 28: Former minister for Higher Education B A Moideen has exhorted the linguistic academies to play a crucial in bridging the gap between people in the society.
Speaking after releasing ‘Eranti’, a collection of two Beary plays published by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, in Mangaluru on Monday, he said linguistic academies exist to unite people and not to divide them.
Stating that Beary community has a unique culture, he said that there is a need to record Beary culture. He suggested making efforts in this regard and formulate programmes, so as to bring the hidden talents of the people of Beary community.
He noted that literature in Beary language has been thriving in recent years.
Mayor Jacinta Vijaya Alfred released the audio CD of beary songs ‘Kotthippu’ on the occasion.
Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy President B A?Muhammed Hanif, Registrar Umarabba, Theatreperson V G Pal were present among others.
