Bengaluru, Jul 16: Law Minister T?B?Jayachandra turned the tables on the BJP?in the Legislative Assembly by reading out a media interview of former Lokayukta Santhosh Hegde wherein he indicates his suspicion that the present Lokayukta Bhaskar Rao might have paid money to get the post.

“We have nothing to hide....Let there be a CBI?inquiry”, he said amid noisy exchange of words between BJP and Congress.
It all began when K?G?Bopaiah (BJP)?was participating in a discussion on the Lokayukta institution, when in a spur of anger, he accused the government of making use of the Lokayukta to file a series of “frivolous” FIRs against former chief ministers B?S?Yeddyurappa and H?D?Kumaraswamy.
He also accused Home Minister K?J?George of “stealing timber” from the forest of Kodagu, which again led to uproarious scenes in the House. Jayachandra hit back at the BJP by quoting Justice Hegde from the interview.
K?R?Ramesh Kumar (Cong), in a lighter vein, sought to know from Shettar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah “what rate” was fixed to appoint the Lokayukta. Both?Shettar, as the then chief minister and Siddaramaiah, as the then leader of the Opposition, were members of the panel to select the Lokayukta.
Shettar said he had not received “anything” and Siddaramaiah too had denied the charge and wondered where the money had gone, a statement that sent the House into peals of laughter.
