Mangalore, Feb 28: Senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary, Union Minister Veerappa Moily's son and entrepreneur Harsha Moily and former Ullal Dargah President U Kanachur Monu filed their nominations for the much touted primaries (internal polls) as the aspirant candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Mangalore constituency from Congress.
After filing the nominations, the aspirants expressed their confidence of winning internal poll.
Poojary said that he was confident that the people of Mangalore would never let him down. “People in this region are well aware of my service as well as party's role in solving the problems.”
Harsha Moily was also of the opinion that he would win the poll 'since the grass root workers whom he consulted in last four months will support and vote for him.'
When asked about the controversial Yethinahole project, he said there was nothing dangerous as projected in the media. “It's just a drinking water project which would never affect this part of people,” he said.
U K Monu, who filed the nomination first among three, was also confident of emerging victorious in the internal poll.
“I would definitely win. If not that happened I will support whoever wins the poll since none of us want BJP to win the LS poll,” he said.
Former All India general secretary of NSUI and the Lok Sabha returning officer Preniel Nair who received the nominations said that the nominations will be scrutinized in the presence of candidates and the list of candidates eligible to contest published at the DCC office on March 2.
The voting process would take place on March 9 and the results will be out on the same day, he said.
