Mangalore, Jun 11: Two days after a group of undertrials attacked policemen in Mangalore sub jail, the district unit of Sri Rama Sene on Wednesday urged the district administration to hand over the case to CBI for investigation.
Speaking to media persons at a press conference here on Wednesday, state vice-president of the organisation Kumar Malemar said that there were hidden hands ' behind the attack made on policemen at the district sub jail that occurred on Sunday.
The attack was carried out by jail inmates belonging to the Muslim community and it is clear that the attack on the policemen including an Assistant Commissioner of Police was a pre-planned one which was carried out at the behest of few hidden hands, he alleged, adding that there should be a CBI inquiry to get to the bottom of the intention of the attack.
Criticising the statements made by academic M M Kalburgi at a programme recently which has sparked sharp criticism in political circles, he said that the scholar 's condemnation of blind beliefs and holy idols was not correct. “If he has the nerve, let him make anti-Hindu statements during a visit to the coastal district. We will look after him,” challenged the Sri Rama Sene leader.
He said that instead of implementing the controversial anti-superstition bill in the state, the government should take strict action against those persons who repeatedly make anti-religious statements on Hindu culture and traditions.
Sri Rama Sene leaders Jeevan Neermarga, Ganesh Attavar and others were present.
