Mangaluru, Sep 22: Police have arrested three persons for illegally transporting cattle and rescued five cattle near Subrahmanya Cross, under Subrahmanya police station, on the outskirts of Mangaluru.

Police officers who were on night patrolling on Tuesday questioned them and found out that the cattle were being transported illegally from Hassan to Mangaluru.
They have been booked under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and have been sent to judicial custody. A case has been registered at Subrahmanya police station.
In a separate case, a man was arrested and 15 kgs of beef seized from his shop in Nelyadi, on Tuesday.
According to the police, the accused Kattimonu from Dontila was selling meat illegally and a case has been registered at Uppinangady police station.
