Mangaluru, Dec 8: Several groups of Sangh Parviar activists were seen on Monday morning trying to forcefully impose bandh in Gurupura, Kaikamba, Vamanjoor, Ulaibettu and other sensitive areas of Mangaluru taluk amidst prohibitory orders.
The dawn-to-dusk bandh call was given by Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Ram Sene and other outfits of Sangh Parivar following last week's communal clashes in Ulaibettu and Vamanjoor villages.
The police have imposed prohibitory order under section 144 from 6 am to 6 pm in volatile areas of the taluk. Security has been tightened and additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas.
However, right wing miscreants have continued their violent activities in the region. Several vehicles and shops belonging to minority community were attacked with stones in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Miscreants also tried to set a bakery on fire at Kaikamba.
A stationary bus belonging to Fathima travels stoned and damaged by miscreants at Bajpe. A Rajahamsa bus also came under attack at Yedapadavu.
A truck driver from Bengaluru identified as joy sustained injuries when miscreants pelted stones at his truck.
The forceful bandh in Bajpe, Gurpur Edapadavu, Kaikamba, Vamanjoor, Neermarga, Yekkar and Kateel villages has affected surrounding places too.
