Mangaluru, Sep 30: Alleging that the police department had been handling the two-year-old case of the mysterious death of a student Akshata with a casual and negligent attitude without reaching a proper conclusion, members of the Adyar unit of BJP Yuva Morcha said that they suspected foul play in the death and the police was making no efforts to trace the accused responsible for it.

“The girl went missing since September 21, 2013 and was found dead under mysterious circumstances three days later. Later it was learnt that she was often found with a boy Madan from Manjeshwar who had a bad reputation. Since her body was found, the boy has gone missing and the jurisdictional Pandeshwar police have made no tangible efforts to trace his whereabouts. It is unfortunate that the police investigating team has not collected the forensic reports from the concerned forensic laboratories after the viscera from the body was sent for forensic examination,” he said.
He said that members of the Yuva Morcha, along with local residents of Adyar, would lay siege to Pandeshwar police station on Monday, in protest of the negligent attitude of the police investigating team in this regard.
“We fear that the concerned police are trying to close the case without arriving at a probable conclusion in the case. The police have failed to trace the main accused Madan, who was spotted at a local programme last year, in spite of potential evidence against him. It is strongly suspected that he trapped the girl by luring her with drugs and murdered her,” he said, adding that they would hold a protest demanding justice to the victim’s family.
Mangaluru North unit president of BJP Yuva Morcha Varun Chowta, and members Prasanna and Chethan Kumar were present on the occasion.
