Mangaluru, Jun 3: When schools across the district reopened on Monday after two months of summer vacations, a student from Surathkal went missing from home fearing returning to his school on Monday morning, putting his parents in a state of anxiety.

Hailing from a poor family from Kana, Surathkal, Suresh (name changed) slipped out of the house and went missing while his parents and younger brother were preparing to go to school on the first day of the new academic year. The parents went to the police station to lodge a missing complaint when they were unable to find Suresh even after searching around the house and nearby localities.
Even while suffering from ill-health, the boy's father and others searched frantically for Suresh throughout Kana and Kaikamba including the railway station. Finally, after an extensive search, Suresh was doing in the neighbouring village.
With Suresh's father being ill, his mother solely earned a livelihood for the family by working as a cleaner at a private institution.
It is said that after he was found, Suresh has kept mum without confiding with his parents why he left home. His mother said that they did not put any pressure or force the boy. "He has not confided why he wanted to go away from home. We are still in a state of anxiety over his disappearance," she said.
It was initially assumed that Suresh had run away from home fearing going back to school.
