Mangaluru, Sep 3: A prominent builder in the city has been accused of threatening surveyors with his pistol at Padushedde village in Bondel on the outskirts of the city.

According to a complaint filed by Vijayprasad Alva, the Executive Director of Human Rights Federation of India, he had joined Surveyor Prashant in the survey of land belonging to Thukaram Shetty.
This land measuring 2.2 acres was adjoining to the property of Shankar Shetty, who had agreed to sell the land to Rai Estate and Builders.
While carrying out the survey procedures, Mr. Rai came with a few men and reportedly objected to the work.
When Mr. Alva questioned Mr. Rai, the latter allegedly hit him and then threatened him of his life by pointing a pistol.
Countering this complaint, Mr. Rai has filed a compliant accusing Mr. Alva and his men of assaulting him when he had questioned the ingression of Mr. Rai and the surveyor into the land owned by Shankar Shetty.
